Main Description
On the ground floor there are 3 rooms. On entering the front door there is a reception room with tomettes floor and an open fire. There are archways either side of the fire leading through to the kitchen. This is equipped with a wood/multifuel burner, gas cooker, cupboards and sink. There is a door through to the shower room, w.c. with a tiled floor. The staircase leads up from the kitchen to the 2 good sized bedrooms. The back bedroom has a large cupboard which houses the water tank. At the back of the cottage there is a single storey extension, currently used as a shed, and from there is the access to the substantial cellar below the house. The garden is approximately 2000 sqm in size.
The cottage is clean and painted white throughout, it is habitable although the private services mean that it is not sophisticated; it is secure as there are shutters to all windows, bars for the ground floor windows and Chubb bolts to the uptairs windows.
Electricity is provided by a generator (Honda). It supplies 230V for power tools, hairdryer, vacuum etc and when in use it simultaneously charges the leisure batteries which run the 12V lighting and the shower. It also powers the pump to raise, from the well to the upstairs tank, the water for washing and flushing - this takes about five minutes a day.
Three of four steam trains operate on summer Sundays, with diesels on Saturdays. During July and August there are three trains every afternoon.
The nearest access from the A6 is twenty kilometres. It has ready access to all of Burgundy's riches: the Cote d'Or, the Morvan etc. The property is fun as a holiday cottage.
