Lons le Saunier, the nearest large town is about 22kms away with a wide variety of shops and facilities, Champagnole, about 33kms away is a pretty town and has an industrial area with a good range of outlets and Clairvaux les Lacs, about 12kms away, has beautiful lakes which are available for most water sports.
For more localised shopping there are excellent supermarkets, post office, patisseries etc. at St Laurent about 8kms away.
Geneva airport is approximately one hour and fifteen minutes drive away and provides some spectacular scenery en route.
