House For Sale Near CAYLUS, Tarn-et-Garonne, Occitanie
This historic property was founded between 1218 and 1226 by the Knights Templar and in those days anyone inflicting certain marital crimes or practising witchcraft had their house/land confiscated and given to the Commanderie.
Thus this Commanderie des Templiers was famous through the centuries (including a transfer to a religious order) and important changes to the buildings occurred in the 15th,16th and 17th centuries.
The present owners bought the house in 1959 and have, as you will read, worked extensively on the buildings and today historians regard it as one of the most well preserved Commanderies in France.
