This historic property was founded between 1218 and 1226 by the Knights Templar and in those days anyone inflicting certain marital crimes or practising witchcraft had their house/land confiscated and given to the Commanderie.

Thus this Commanderie des Templiers was famous through the centuries (including a transfer to a religious order) and important changes to the buildings occurred in the 15th,16th and 17th centuries.
