The main chateau has 29 rooms including 15 bedrooms. Once a simple defence tower in the 13th Century, the castle was enlarged and converted into a castle with fortifications in the 14th Century and in the 17th Century. Under Cardinal Richelieu, part of the defensive elements were removed and the castle then served a residential purpose with the terraced gardens styled from the famous Lenôtre school.
The castle is made up of a central body facing east/west on three floors. To the south west is a wing on two floors plus cellars with the owners' apartments. To the north east is another wing on two floors with the Guards room and the Plans room.
Outbuildings- There is a large outbuilding which is currently used for weddings and receptions. With an 880m2 floor area it has three large rooms of 220m2, 120m2 and 122m2 a serving kitchen, a cloakroom and a vaulted room serving as a nursery with W.C.s with disabled access. The largest room has a mezzanine for an orchestra and a large balcony overlooking the stage. The reception area has fully independent separate access to the Chateau and a large car park. Another building has an apartment with two bedrooms, a living room, kitchen and bathroom, and at one end a shed with four stalls and a workshop.
Grounds The grounds which total 18.7 ha include remarkable French formal gardens with fountains, crossed by a small river over 1km long with four waterfalls and fish, and a bridge linking the Chateau with the labyrinth and the orchard and parterre as well as the rose garden. A swimming pool of 50m2 is discreetly placed near the Chateau in a sunny south facing position. There are 8 hectares of woodland and 3 hectares of meadow amongst the 18.7 hectares overall.
The castle is 15kms from Clermont Ferrand. With its substantial surface area, historic past and imposing architecture it offers a variety of unique possibilities with great potential. The centre of Clermont Ferrand, main town of Puy de Dome, is a modern town with many tourist activities in the vicinity and hence of value for anybody considering some kind of commercial venture. The property is in the regional park of the "Volcans d'Auvergne' which is listed in the UNESCO world heritage directory. The Chateau has no immediate neighbours and is 1 km from a village with shops.
The A75 Autoroute 8 kms away is then four hours from Paris and 3 hours 30 minutes from Geneva, 2 hours from Lyon.
