UNDER OFFER A traditional French cottage in the centre of a popular village with cosy sitting room, three bedrooms, two bathrooms, wood burners, manageable gardens front and back, large hangar ideal for entertaining, above ground swimming pool and complet, Deux-Sèvres, Nouvelle Aquitaine
This attractive house was originally three farm workers cottages and has been tastefully converted into a large three-bedroom residence. Enter the property through large gates which once closed provide complete privacy and safety for animals and small children.
There is a small porch at the front and this entrance takes you into the cosy sitting room, heated, along with the rest of the house, by a very effective wood burner. Doors lead from the sitting room to the courtyard at the back of the house.
Turn right from the sitting room into the well-equipped kitchen with its tiled floor, wooden beams and feature stone walls.
Turn left from the sitting room into a small hallway with wood burner and then continue into the downstairs double bedroom with doors out to the courtyard at the back. The bedroom has an en-suite toilet and wash basin.
Stairs lead from the hallway to a second bedroom big enough for a double and single bed if required. An en-suite bathroom has a bath, toilet, wash basin and bidet.
Another staircase leads from the sitting room to a small landing with a third bedroom and separate shower room. The bedroom has a raised area which is currently used as office space.
At the side of the house is a large barn, running from front to back and this provides very useful storage space and also a walkway from the front of the house to the back.
At the front of the house there is a pretty garden with a small lawn, mature trees and bushes and a gravelled drive large enough to take several cars. At the back of the garden is a gorgeous courtyard with paved and gravelled areas, pergola and raised fish pond surrounded by beautiful Charentaise stone walls.
Next to the house is a large hangar housing a beautiful semi-inground heated swimming pool with attractive wood cladding. This is a great entertainment area and provides a welcome respite from the sun during the hot summer months in this part of France.
The house is heated with efficient wood burners, is almost fully double glazed and is on mains drainage.
The location is right in the centre of a pretty village that has a boulangerie, hairdressers and popular restaurant/bar. The nearest town is Chef-Boutonne (7km) which has primary and secondary schools, two supermarkets, three bars, boulangerie, florists, post office, banks, restaurant, hairdressers, open-air swimming pool, fishing lake at the Chateau Javarzay and a market every Saturday morning. There are often events going on in Chef and it is well situated for the airports at Poitiers (75km), La Rochelle (96km), Limoges (125km) or Bordeaux (180km).
