An adorable riverside cottage on the edge of a medieval town., Corrèze, Nouvelle Aquitaine
Sitting on the banks of the Dordogne River, within walking distance of a medieval town with restaurants and shops, sits this picture postcard pretty cottage. Enjoying one of the best views of the River in the area, the cottage has evolved over the years and now offers cosy accommodation with the living areas and bedrooms all enjoying the fabulous River views. The front of the cottage has a lovely covered seating area where you can enjoy the comings and goings along the river as well as watching the otters and coypu which live in the very clean water. Comfortable as is, there are several areas of the property where existing accommodation could be extended or re-jigged to suit the needs of a larger family (subject to permissions). The existing kitchen could be extended into the area currently used as a utility room. There is a large attic area currently used for storage that would make an excellent bedroom with ensuite, and a separate attic area that has already been converted and is currently used as an artists studio which would make a lovely bedroom or a large office away from the distractions of the rest of the house.
The property does not have a history of flooding and sits several metres above the river.
Beaulieu Sur Dordogne itself is a popular town, previously something of a hidden gem. The centre of the town is a medieval treasure with year round restaurants, cafes and independent shops. Built on a particularly attractive section of the river, Beaulieu is popular with visitors through out the summer when the whole area comes alive. On the borders of crossroads of three departments - the Correze, the Lot and the Dordogne, access to travel routes is good with the motorway and three airports all within good travelling distance.
